About the Worm Lab

Welcome to the marine ecology and conservation lab of Boris Worm at the Department of Biology, Dalhousie University

We are a diverse group of researchers and students engaged in the study of marine biodiversity (species, communities and ecosystems) in the world ocean.

There are four major questions that guide our research:

  • How is marine biodiversity distributed across the globe and changing over time?
  • What are the causes and consequences of biodiversity change?
  • What management solutions really work in preventing biodiversity loss and rebuilding resilient ecosystems?

Some recent papers illustrate how we are trying to better answer these questions, publications.

We are also engaged in communicating research results to a wider audience through a regular radio column, through Ocean School project and through the Media.
